SUGAR BABIES is a compelling documentary (in production) that examines the public heath epidemic of diabetic children in America. Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are on the rise and threaten to become a healthcare crisis in the next decade. SUGAR BABIES tells the story of the two types of diabetes--the ancient autoimmune disease now called type 1 that can only be treated with insulin, and a more modern disease now called type 2 that can be treated by behavioral and cultural changes such as weight loss, healthy eating, and active lifestyles. The film intimately follows six families’ stories, while clinicians and health experts help us to understand how we got here and what we can do about an epidemic that is threatening our next generation.
